Derek Lawrence grew up in Hampton Falls, later earning a B.M. at Gordon College, M.M. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he met his wife Julie, and a D.M.A. at the University of Oklahoma-Norman. In Oklahoma, he taught piano and related classes at Oklahoma City University for 5 years and directed the music and choirs at First Christian Church of Moore.
In 2011 he and his wife Julie moved to Taiwan (Julie's home country) where he consulted with private businesses and graduate schools in ESL seminars and classes, and maintained a small studio. While there, he and Julie welcomed their first daughter.
2014 marks a return to the U.S., and a return to church music as Sanctuary Choir Director. Both Derek and Jule (D.M.A. OU '09) teach piano privately in addition to other pursuits.
After graduating from the University of Montana, Mark and his wife, Heather, moved to New England after spending time in both Salt Lake City and Chicago. They have attended HFFBC for the past six years and enjoy how each year provides new opportunities to be a part of what the Lord is doing in and through this church. Mark's position as Business Manager has given him a great appreciation into how HFFBC is a vital part in the lives of those who attend, those in the community, and those who serve abroad as Missionaries.
Ron and Denise Clay
Ron and Denise Clay have been attending Hampton Falls First Baptist Church for 25 years. They have been our custodians for 18 years. Fremont, New Hampshire has been their home for 23 years and they have two daughters and two grandchildren.
Pat Polzella, grew up in Marblehead, Massachusetts and moved to the New Hampshire Seacoast in 1966. She is married to husband, John, and they have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. She and John came to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior within a few days of each other and were baptized together, in this church, in 1973. They have raised their family according to Joshua 24:14-16, “As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
After being a stay- at- home mom for many years, Pat came back to the work force to serve as an administrative assistant to the pastoral staff here at Hampton Falls First Baptist Church. April 2014 marks 30 years of working in this position.
She feels that it is truly a blessing to serve the Lord each day with a staff of godly men and women who seek to do the Lord’s will and share the good news of Jesus Christ to those with whom they come in contact – whether it be in the area of small groups, teaching, counseling, publications, custodial, music or preaching. She feels that it is an exciting time to be in ministry here. Our congregation is growing and the ways in which we can reach others for Christ are increasing all the time.
Ellen is our Director of Music here at Hampton Falls First Baptist Church. At six years of age was singing weekly in worship, as a member of the children's choir. She began piano lessons at seven and organ lessons at thirteen and months later began working as substitute organist at her church and in several Boston area churches. She moved to NH with her family at fifteen and accepted a Director of Music position at seventeen, holding that position for eleven years before making the move to HFFBC. Ellen and her husband Neal presently reside in Hampton Falls and have two grown sons, Greg and Ben. Ellen is planning to develop a youth chime program for any interested youth and instrumental and vocal ensembles for middle school and high school ages. She looks to the future with great anticipation as she continually seeks the Lord's will for the HFFBC music ministry.
